Mr. Ian Currie is well known both locally and nationally for the treatment of pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence and vaginal reconstructive surgery (including prolapse). He also has a large general gynaecology practice that includes the treatment of menstrual disorders (heavy, painful periods), endometriosis and fibroids.

Ian has been an NHS consultant at Stoke Mandeville, a large district general hospital for 17 years. He was clinical lead as well as divisional chair for women and children's services for the NHS Trust from 2007 until 2011. He was then elected to the prestigious role of Vice President UK Affairs at theĀ Royal College of ObstetriciansĀ and Gynaecologists (RCOG). As part of this role, Ian lectures extensively in the UK and abroad. He is the National lead for information and chairs the executive committee as well as vice chair for the ethics committee. Ian is also the RCOG representative on the Green Group and the Women's Health Network (previously called the Consumer Forum).

Prior to this Ian served as a member and fellow on Council of the RCOG, a group who are pivotal in the decision-making on many aspects. More specifically, those in post are tasked with steering education and training for Doctors in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the UK and worldwide.

Ian has served as a member of the Guideline Development Group for the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) on the topic of female urinary incontinence. He has also inputted into the Interventional Procedures Programme at NICE.

During Ian's medical training, he undertook a clinical fellowship post in Toronto with world-renowned surgeon Mr. Harold Drutz in urogynaecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery. Ian has several publications and articles as well as peer reviews for leading journals and has received the maximum 9 Clinical Excellence awards points from his Trust.
